Data and Performance

How we measure progress at Kingfisher Academy

Like all schools, we use data to track the progress of our young people. In addition to tracking progress against IEP and EHCP targets, we measure the children holistically so we can tailor our offer accordingly. We consider young people’s attitude to lessons, curricular functioning, peer relationships, overall mental health and wellbeing, how well they cope with change and relationships with adults, for example.

We also track attendance and behaviour and progress within individual subjects – each department has a bespoke tracker which allows them to identify gaps in learning and supports planning of next steps.

Please see here, for more information about Holistic data.

National Association for Hospital Education

One of the organisations that we are part of is the National Association for Hospital Education (NAHE). NAHE is an organisation that supports professionals working in hospital education. This could be within a hospital school, medical PRU, CAMHS inpatient unit or as part of an outreach service such as home tuition. In fact, anyone who works with children and young people who are unable to attend school due to physical and/or mental health difficulties. Kingfisher Academy is part of a NAHE peer review working with colleagues from across the country.
