Ofsted Visit Outcome – Strong in all areas

Our recent inspection by Ofsted deemed that we reached a strong standard.

During our recent OFSTED Inspection on the 16th and 17th of June, the Inspectors praised Kingfisher's unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of some of Sheffield's most vulnerable learners, describing how "care and compassion can be found around every corner of this school" and highlighting the dedication of staff who are "deeply committed to helping pupils achieve in all aspects of their lives."

The report also mentions the impact the academy has on pupils, noting that they "feel safe, calm and secure as they are supported to return to learning after periods of absence from education" and that "pupils and staff work together in harmony." Inspectors further recognised the school's ability to provide engaging and accessible learning experiences, commenting that pupils are able to access "enjoyable lessons that meet their needs" and benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities that broaden their horizons.

The report highlighted the positive culture evident throughout the school, noting that "high expectations of behaviour and respect for all contribute to a calm atmosphere" and recognising that pupils feel listened to and valued. Inspectors found that pupils know where to turn for support and that any concerns are dealt with quickly and effectively.

Particularly significant was Ofsted's recognition of the academy's success in helping young people re-engage with education. The report states that "The school catches the pupils wherever they are. It provides the care they need, offering an effective safety net which is appreciated by pupils and their families" and commends staff for their relentless focus on overcoming barriers to learning through close partnership with families.

The academy would like to thank its pupils, families, staff, governors, trustees, health colleagues and partners across Sheffield for their continued support.

As Kingfisher Academy looks to the future, this judgement provides strong external validation of its inclusive ethos, ambitious curriculum and relentless commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
