SENDIAS
SENDIAS provide:
- Completely confidential and impartial information & advice over the telephone
- Completely confidential and impartial information & advice face to face either in the parent/carer’s home or at a venue of their choosing
- Explanations of their rights and of their child’s rights
- Explanations of their duties, the duties, roles and responsibilities of everyone else
- Explanations of the jargon used by schools, local authority officers and other professionals
- Help in understanding ‘the system’
- Help in understanding the letters, reports etc. that they may receive about their child
- Help in writing letters or reports
- Help in making complaints
- Help in registering formal appeals and with the whole appeal process
- Help to prepare for meetings
- Support at meetings
- Signposting to other agencies and services relevant to their individual need
- Information about support for other parents in similar circumstances
